The best way to see if our classes are right for you is to sign up so you can experience them fully. We don’t allow people to watch our group classes as it can make new students feel uncomfortable.

For your first class, please arrive 5-10 minutes early. This will allow us time to register all new students so we can start class on time.

We recommend nice, casual attire for your ballroom classes. This could be pants, polo shirt or button-up, skirt, or a dress. You don’t need to buy any special clothes to attend class. Choose something that's comfortable and that you can move in - nothing too hot like a sweater or too tight such as a pencil skirt. While stretchy and wicking fabrics are great, you won’t need to wear fitness attire.

When you’re ready, we offer a full line of ballroom dance practice wear at our studio boutique. Practice wear is made with stretchy, wicking fabrics and is designed to accentuate your movements so you can look your best and stay cool while dancing.

Wear comfortable shoes with a smooth sole such as a dress shoe or tennis shoe. Anything besides flip-flops will work as long as you feel comfortable and can dance for an hour. Shoes that lace up or have an ankle strap will stay in place better while dancing. We don't recommend high heels unless they’re dance shoes. Also avoid heavy, bulky shoes such as work boots.

We don't require any special shoes for the Intro level, but they are required at the higher levels. After your first month of classes, you may want to invest in suede-soled dance shoes. They make a big difference, even for beginner dancers, and you’ll be able to turn and control your movement more easily.

Dance shoes come in all styles, from a flashy latin heel, to a comfortable practice shoe, dressy wingtips, and everything in between. You can buy shoes at our studio boutique or we can order something special for you. Please see our Guide To Buying Dance Shoes for helpful tips.

Only enrolled students are permitted in the ballroom during class. We don't allow unattended children to be at the studio. This fosters the learning environment and enables our staff and students to focus during class.

Good question! Since you’ll be in close proximity when dancing with others, be extra diligent with your personal hygiene. Here are some tips:

• Brush your teeth before class and use mouthwash or breath mints during class to refresh as needed. 
• If possible, shower before class - especially if you were doing something sweaty (like yardwork or exercise) before class.
• Wear clean clothes
• Wash your hands before and after class
• Avoid eating strong-smelling foods before class (garlic, tuna, ect)
• Avoid wearing perfume and cologne
• Use deodorant

Introduce yourself to new partners before dancing. Smile and enjoy yourself as this will put your partner at ease. Thank each person after the dance. Offer a compliment to your partner if you wish.

Don’t correct or criticize your partner while dancing. As dancers, our only responsibility is to focus on improving own dancing. It’s counterproductive and inappropriate to give suggestions for improvement or to offer unsolicited help or feedback to your dance partners.

This is the biggest complaint we get from our dancers - when other students presume to correct their dancing. Don’t be that person!

The best way to help someone is to allow them to learn and progress at their own pace.

Good etiquette and common courtesy ensures everyone has an enjoyable dance experience.

Our studio memberships are our BEST VALUE, and the BEST WAY TO LEARN. With one set monthly price, you’ll get everything you need to succeed on the dance floor.

Accountability is one of the biggest benefits of a studio membership. When you’ve paid for and enrolled in your dance classes in advance, you’re more likely to stick to your program and achieve your goals.

Additionally, we find that students learn best when their dance program includes a combination of group classes, private lessons, and dance parties. We’ve crafted four membership levels with these elements, so you can choose the level that works best for you.

Sign up and pay for your first month of studio membership online. Your first month will be prorated if you sign up mid-month.

Your membership will automatically renew each month, and your card will be charged on the first of the month. You may cancel your membership anytime by notifying us one business day before the start of the new month.

Our membership classes don’t  “roll-over” to the next month, but we do offer the flexibility to use your classes at any time during the month. For example, you may attend classes twice in one week to make-up for a missed class the previous week.

Our Studio Memberships are our best value and are priced with the knowledge that life happens, and you’ll miss a class here and there. By design, you’ll still save money with a studio membership even if you miss some classes.

You can use your membership to attend ANY group class we offer, as long as you meet the prerequisites for class. We encourage you to explore and allow you to “mix and match” classes as much as you’d like. 

Note that your membership covers our regularly scheduled group classes taught by staff instructors and is not valid for workshops, classes with guest instructors, or special events.

If you plan to move, please let us know as soon as possible. We can prorate your last month's membership so you only pay for the weeks you're still in town.

If you’re injured, we can offer a credit toward a future month’s membership. Please let us know as soon as possible, and we can credit your membership (in full week increments) from the time of notification.

If you’ll be gone for a short time, such as a week, we recommend that you keep your membership active and attend extra classes before or after your trip. Remember your membership is priced so that you save money even if you miss a few classes. 

If you’ll be out of town two weeks or more, please let us know the month before and we can prorate your membership in full week increments.

If you’ll be away for an extended period, we can place your membership on hold for up to three months.

If you travel frequently, a studio membership may not be right for you. Our class passes or drop-in options are best if you travel regularly or if your work schedule varies.

A group class is where one teacher works with many students and covers a specific dance or topic. 

Group classes are a fun, affordable way to learn and enjoy dancing with a community. And they are an essential part of any dance program because they allow you to practice dancing with a variety of partners. This is a proven way to accelerate your learning and will make you a better leader or follower. Bring your friends; make new friends. It’s always fun to learn together.

We recommend signing up for group classes at least 24 hours in advance. This is to ensure that your class isn't canceled due to low enrollment and so you'll automatically be notified of any schedule changes or class cancellations.

If you’re unable to enroll in advance, yes - you can still come to class :-) Just be sure to check our schedule online to ensure there aren’t any last-minute class cancellations.

If you’re a new student and haven’t enrolled online, please arrive 15 minutes early to complete your registration at the front desk.

This ensures you have ample time to use all your classes before they expire.

Since levels vary widely by studio and region, we ask dancers who are new to our studio to take their first class at the Intro level (or take a private lesson if you prefer) so your teacher can assess your level and recommend the best placement for you. When you’re ready to move-up, just ask your teacher.

A private lesson is a customized 50-minute session in which one teacher works with one student (or one couple) in a shared ballroom space. With your own private instructor, you’ll progress quickly and easily at a pace that’s right for you.

You may purchase Private Lessons individually, in 5 or 10 lesson packages (3 month expiration), or with a studio membership. Our private lesson rate is the same for an individual or couple.

Be social and welcoming of new dancers
Ask a variety of partners to dance, and graciously accept invitations to dance when asked.

Welcome new dancers and visitors to the studio by asking them to dance, introducing them to others, and helping make them feel at home in our happy dance community.

No Teaching on the Social Dance Floor
Dance parties are not the time or place to teach or learn new moves. The music is loud, the floor is crowded and it’s not practical to conduct a mini private lesson during the dance party.

So don’t ask your teacher, partner, or other dancers to help you remember moves or show you new steps. Save questions for your next private lesson or group class.

Declining dances
In general, you should accept a dance when invited. If you choose to decline, do so politely, then be sure to sit out that particular song. So once you decline a dance, you may not dance with someone else until the next song.

Don’t correct your partner
In order to provide a comfortable and supportive dance environment for all, we encourage students to focus on improving their own dancing. Offering corrections, suggestions for improvement, and unsolicited feedback to your partners at our studio is not permitted.

Wondering what to wear to dance class? Practice wear is the simple solution to look and feel great while dancing. While you can always come as you are to class, clothing that is designed for dance will elevate your look and performance. Practice wear includes mix-and-match pieces such as dance pants, skirts, dresses, shirts and tops.

People of ALL ages, shapes, and sizes can learn to be exquisite Belly Dancers. While every body looks and moves uniquely, the joy we feel while moving to music is what brings us joy and captivates an audience. We welcome you to experience our classes and explore and express the inner Belly Dancer dancer in you.

Our classes are “all levels” so our teachers will guide more experienced dancers to explore more complex, fuller, and faster movements while ensuring beginners learn the basic elements. Experienced dancers may especially enjoy the challenge of our Belly Dance Choreography class.

Our Belly Dance choreography class is open to students of all levels. The only requirement is that you also be enrolled in at least one of our “regular” Belly Dance classes. This is to ensure you keep learning and developing your Belly Dance skills in addition to learning choreography.

Performances are optional, and you may take the choreography class simply to learn and enjoy dancing a routine. Be sure to let the teacher know that you don’t want to perform so they won’t include you in group formations.

To plan your timeline, we suggest that you attend one lesson each week leading up to your wedding, then add 1-2 weeks for flexibility if desired.

• 3 Wedding Lessons – start 3 weeks before your wedding
• 5 Wedding Lessons – start 5-6 weeks before your wedding
• 10 Wedding Lessons – start 10-12 weeks before your wedding

You’ll get increasingly busy as your wedding day approaches so it’s nice to have extra time built in should you need to skip a week. Also, some couples find that they’d like to schedule one or two extra lessons to practice at the studio and feel extra prepared for their time in the spotlight.

Running out of time to take dance lessons? You may schedule 1-3 lessons the week of your wedding. We’ll keep your dance easy and achievable while still ensuring you look great and feel confident on the dance floor. No stress - we got you :-)

And yes, we’ve even had a couple come in for a dance lesson the day before their wedding! So it’s never too late.

Longer Timelines to Learn To Dance:
Beyond The Wedding Dance Prep
If you’ve always wanted to learn to dance and would like to enjoy ballroom dance as something fun to do together, it’s very helpful to begin group classes (or private lessons) six months to one year before your wedding. The skills and confidence you’ll gain will greatly assist you as you prepare for your wedding dance, and you’ll be able to enjoy dancing with your sweetheart for a lifetime.

We offer three wedding dance packages so you may choose the option that suits your desires, timeline, and budget. All of our wedding dance packages will ensure you feel comfortable, confident, and prepared for your first dance.

• 3 Wedding Lessons
  Our smallest package is three wedding lessons.  This is plenty of time to learn some basic steps to keep you moving on the dance floor - plus a simple entrance with a twirl and a nice ending dip. It’s perfect for couples who want to keep things easy and stress-free. This is also a great option for couples with limited time or budget to prepare for an elaborate wedding dance.
• 5 Wedding Lessons
  Our most popular package is five wedding lessons.  With this package you’ll learn a full choreography of achievable steps that express your song and delight your guests. This option allows you additional time to practice and feel more comfortable dancing with your partner.
• 10 Wedding Lessons
  Our largest package is ten wedding lessons. This is the perfect choice for couples who want to do something extra special and wow the crowd. With this program your first dance will be truly spectacular and a highlight of the evening!
  
• Extra Lessons
  And no matter which option you choose, you can always add on extra wedding lessons if you want more practice.

Wedding couples are welcome and encouraged to attend our regular dance classes and to take advantage of our Get Started 50% off new student special. However if you want custom choreography to a specific song, you’ll need to sign up for Wedding Dance lessons.

If you have time, a great way to prepare for your wedding is to begin with Get Started. Over the course of a month, you’ll learn a variety of dances that will enable you to enjoy dancing together at your reception.

Then, if you’d like to learn a special routine for your first dance, you can sign up for Wedding Lessons. This will save you money, since you’ll have built a foundation of dance skills and will need fewer Wedding Lessons.

Yes, of course you can! If that works for you; that’s great. But we’ve found that most non-professionals have trouble picking up choreography from a video and making it look good with their partner. We’ve had more than one couple come to us for help after trying to learn a dance online…

Many of the flashy wedding dance videos you see online are performed by professionals. Their years of training make it look easy; but it doesn’t always look so good when you try it at home.

The other benefit to coming to our studio is we’ll create a custom choreography for YOU based on your skills, your personality, and your song. With all the stress of planning a wedding, it’s nice to have someone make it easy and take care of you.

When you sign up for our wedding package, you simply pick a song and show up to the studio – we’ll take care of the rest:

All of our wedding packages are designed for absolute beginners with no natural abilities or dance coordination. You’ll have a beautiful dance and be successful with any of our wedding dance packages.

The difference is, the more lessons you take - the more intricate and exciting we can make your dance. But no matter if you choose 3, 5, or 10 lessons – you’ll feel confident and ready on your wedding day.

And of course, you can always add more lessons to your package if you decide you want more time to practice.

We can help you select a song if you have a few choices and can’t decide. But it helps if you choose a song together before your first lesson. This allows us to spend your lesson time teaching you to dance rather than listening to song options.

Here’s our top tips for selecting the perfect song for your first dance:

• Choose a song that’s special and meaningful to BOTH of you. If you have a favorite artist that your fiancé hates, pick something else.
• Choose a song that will stand the test of time.
• Choose a song that speaks to your love, your feelings, and your relationship.
• Don’t worry about the tempo or style of dance. We can create a first dance for any song you choose.
• Bonus points if you select a song that matches the vibe of your wedding:  sophisticated, country, whimsical, ect.
• Choose a song that expresses your personalities (sexy, proper, playful, romantic, ect).
• Make sure the lyrics and song story are appropriate for a wedding.
• Remember this will be the song you’ll dance to for the rest of your lives. Make it a great one!

Absolutely! We love helping all couples celebrate their wedding with a memorable and meaningful first dance.

We recommend the 3 Lesson Wedding packages for Father/Daughter and Mother/Son dances. If you feel you’d like extra sessions, you may purchase the 5 Lesson Wedding package.

Option 1:  Get Started + Group Classes and/or Private Lessons
If you have a few months before the wedding, we recommend beginning with our Get Started new student special. Get Started is 50% off your first month of classes and includes 1 Welcome Lesson, 4 Group Classes, and 1 Dance Party. 

Then you may continue with group classes (and/or private lessons) after that. There’s no better way to prepare for a crowded reception dance floor.

Option 2:  Private Lessons
If you prefer private instruction or have less than a month before the wedding, we recommend the 3 Lesson or 5 Lesson Wedding packages.

We have a 24 hour cancellation policy for Wedding Lessons. Cancellations made within 24 hours will be charged as a full lesson.

Shoes:
Wear comfortable shoes with a smooth shoe such as a tennis shoe or dress shoe with a leather sole. To ensure shoes stay in place while dancing, we recommend shoes that lace-up or have an ankle strap. Flip flops are not permitted.

Ballroom dance shoes are not required for this class. If you'd like to buy dance shoes please call us at 843-338-2870 to order through our studio. If you order ballroom shoes on your own, make sure they have suede soles.

Please arrive 5 minutes early (no earlier than 15 minutes) so we may begin class on time. Please pick up your child promptly after class.

Only enrolled students are permitted in the ballroom during class. We don't allow parents, siblings, friends, or family members to observe group classes. This fosters the learning environment and enables our staff and students to focus during class. We'll notify you of upcoming performance opportunities where you may see your child shine on the dance floor!

We don’t offer refunds for gift certificates or for packages after first use. For example, if you buy a 5 class pass, but only attend 2 classes, you won’t receive a partial refund or be able to transfer unused classes to another person. We also don't offer refunds if you cancel within 24 hours of your lesson, class, or party.

We recommend starting with a new student special or drop-in so you can try our classes and see if they're right for you.

Revolution Ballroom is a joyful and welcoming space to learn and connect in a safe environment. 

Inappropriate behavior, including but not limited to unwanted sexual advances or language; intoxication, discrimination based on race, creed, sexual orientation, or gender; or intentional physical or emotional harm will result in you being asked to leave the premises immediately and forfeiting the remainder of your class or services.

We have a non-fraternization policy between our ballroom teachers and their students. Students and teachers may not date or have personal relationships.

Ballroom teachers are not permitted to attend non-studio sponsored social events with their students.

Do not contact your teacher on social media, email, or ask for their phone number. Contact the studio (not your teacher) with questions about classes or updates on your dance schedule.

Our teacher training program is designed for people with little to no dance experience and also benefits seasoned professionals who desire more formal training. The only thing you need is the desire to teach dance, a dedication to learn, and the perseverance to succeed.

That said, our training course will be a bit easier if you have at least one year of social dance experience.

Yes! Our program is designed to allow working adults to complete our teaching training course while continuing to work full-time in their careers. Classes are held on nights and weekends. Contact us at 843-338-2870 for our current class schedule.

A good rule of thumb is to allocate at least one hour of study time for each hour in class. An added benefit of enrollment in our Teacher Training program is you receive free practice opportunities at our group classes and dance parties.

Our Teacher Training curriculum is designed to teach you all the figures of the Bronze American syllabus in 16 dances so that you will know those figures inside and out. It will teach you the elements of the figures and the terminology to teach them with clarity and ease. Our program will give you practice presenting in front of a class, and you'll be tested frequently to ensure retention and to prepare you for your follow-on professional certification. 

Your technique will improve through this process, but our Teaching Training program is focused on making excellent dance teachers, and is not designed to make you a high-level competitive dancer. That type of training is best done via private lessons.

Because this is a teaching class, there is a strong emphasis on presentation skills. You'll be expected to present material to the class on a regular basis. You'll be asked to demonstrate figures, count the class in to music, and to present a brief history of specific dances.

As a dance teacher, you’ll need to demonstrate and explain both the leader’s and follower’s roles. We spend equal time in class working on both parts, and every student is expected to dance with every other student as both leader and follower, regardless of gender. This is standard practice for professional dance instruction.

Finally participants are expected to behave to the highest standards of professionalism while participating in the program, acting with integrity and contributing to our happy dance community in a positive way.

To secure your spot in the class, we recommend submitting the $100 non-refundable deposit at least 30 days prior to the start of class.

All the courses cover the American Style dances (Smooth, Rhythm, and Nightclub dances).

Enroll in our Teacher Training program and 16 months later, you’ll have completed our comprehensive training and will have a strong foundation to thrive as a dance professional. From there we'll help you schedule your professional certifications, and then you'll be ready to teach!

16 months seems like a long time, particularly if you're quite eager to begin your professional dance career. But if you start today, you'll be teaching ballroom dance as a professional before you know it!

We don't offer job placement assistance after graduation, however ballroom dance teachers are in high demand and your training and education from our Teacher Training program makes you an excellent candidate for any position you seek.

Ballroom Dance Instructors work at independent studios, large national franchise studios, or as independent teachers.  In addition, dance instructors are in demand to teach at community centers, at school and after-school enrichment programs, on cruises, at resorts, and many places that might surprise you!

A Revolution Ballroom graduate always warrants a much higher salary then someone else who has not been formally trained. The salary that staff members make at dance studios varies by studio, experience of the teacher, and location.

However, both the salary of an independent contractor and staff member is based on the value of their lesson and student retention, which is directly related to their training and experience. Graduates of the Revolution Ballroom teacher training program are far ahead of the game because they have already received specialized training.

Students enroll in our teacher training program for many reasons and a full-time teaching career is only one of them. Perhaps you'd like to volunteer and teach dance at a nursing home, school, or community center. Maybe you'd like to teach part-time or maybe you simply enjoy the challenge of this professional course. The choice is yours!

When you complete our Teacher Training you will receive a diploma from Revolution Ballroom. This is a valuable accomplishment, and it will serve as a wonderful credential for your dance resume. However, a diploma is different than professional certification.

Professional certification is an additional credential you may receive after taking follow-on exams at the completion of your coursework with us. An analogy is that the diploma is like a college degree and the professional certification is equivalent to post education exams such as the Bar exam for lawyers or the Boards for Cosmetology or Nursing.

Our curriculum is based on an accredited syllabus. Our training and exams provide thorough training for your follow-on professional exams. We will assist you in arranging to take the exam for professional certification.

No. The entire curriculum consists of four separate courses and each course takes 4 months to complete. You will receive a certificate upon completion of the required components for each course. If you do finish the entire 16-month curriculum, you will receive four course completion certificates and a Revolution Ballroom Teaching Diploma!

A Revolution Ballroom Teacher Training diploma recognizes you have successfully completed the vocational teacher training program and can teach all 17 ballroom dances while the professional certification recognizes your masterly knowledge of the dances you are certified in at the national level.

Yes, we offer a fast track option to complete the entire teaching training course in just 4 months. You can complete the entire curriculum in just 4 months by taking one group session and 8-12 additional private lessons per week; this option works best if you have prior dance experience.

When you enroll at our Ballroom Teachers University you are committing to a 4-month session. Your $100 non-refundable deposit will be applied to cover the cost of your program binder and course materials.

We offer a 10-day trial period during the first month of your first session where you may withdraw from the program and receive a refund of your first month's tuition and no further payments will be due.  Please note that no refunds will be issued for your $100 non-refundable deposit.

After the 10-day trial we do not offer refunds on our teacher training program and you will be charged for the remaining payments of your 4-month session.
