What inspired you to start dancing?

As our children have gotten older, I began to realize that my wife and I had “my life” and “her life”, and that a large part of “our life” was raising the kids. As that is shifting, I realized we needed something that was “our thing” as a couple. Joan has always liked to dance, so I thought we could try that, so I signed us up about a year ago.

What I did not expect, is that I would actually like it. I thought this was a thing I would do to make my wife happy and benefit our marriage. Which it has. But I quickly found that I liked it too.

What inspired you to start dancing?

We were looking for a date night kind of activity to share together without the kiddo. Came across Revolution Ballroom and we thought it might be fun,  but decided not to initially due to neither of us knowing anything about dancing. We of course finally decided to give it a try and have enjoyed it since.

Favorite dance or dances?

Waltz and Foxtrot are my favorite. I tend to prefer the smoother, flowing dancing. Likely due to the slower pace which allows me more time to figure out what to do next.

What inspired you to start dancing?

We thought dance might make for a great date night.

Favorite dance or dances?

My favorite dance is the Viennese Waltz, when my legs are working well, it is just so beautiful and fun. And when they aren’t, I like that in Argentine Tango, my leader can modify the moves to hide my missteps easier. But I do like that no matter how well my legs are working, or not, no one makes me feel bad at Revolution Ballroom.

What inspired you to start dancing?

My inspiration story to start dancing came from a story of embarrassment, where I attended a Quinceanera with a friend of mine as her date, and at this party, not just one… BUT TWO GIRLS approached me to dance with them. I was so embarrassed because I had no idea what I was doing, I was stepping on their feet, my timing was off, I bumped heads with them, it was just plain horrible and embarrassing! I faked it until I made it when the song was over, and I promised myself I could never let another opportunity like this ever happen in my life!

What do you enjoy about dancing at Revolution Ballroom?

It has been a joy to be part of Revolution Ballroom and it truly a blessing to have Marcia as a dance teacher!  She is kind, welcoming, personable, and sincerely cares about you as a person.  She is very knowledgeable and I can't help but pick her brains about the specifics of the dances we are learning at every class!  Marcia creates a safe place to learn and the friendly atmosphere allows for mistakes.  At the same time, she sets the bar high and challenges you to be the best dancer you can be.  I have learned so much in the last year and I can't wait to get back to dance class each week!

What inspired you to start dancing?

My Mom always danced when we were growing up, and as kids we were embarrassed. When I got older I regretted that I never listened to her and learned to dance.

I met Marcia at a yoga class, and when I found out she was a dance teacher I asked her if she could teach somebody with two left feet how to dance. She said she could, and I bet her she couldn’t. And here I am…

That I’m able to learn it!! That’s most surprising. I had a bad experience years ago and thought I could never learn.

What inspired you to start dancing?

I’ve always wanted to learn how to dance. When I moved to the area, I was looking through Facebook events for things to do, and the Revolution Ballroom New Year’s dance party popped up. I didn’t end up going to the event because I got sick, but I saw that they offered belly dance lessons and was totally hooked from then on!

Christa Guicherit

The way you break things down and how you give people confidence is a gift, not all dance teachers can do that!

Chloe Hatchell

Marcia is such a kind and encouraging instructor! She is such a skilled dancer and was so helpful and fun. She helped my fiancé and I with our wedding dance as well as my dad and I with our father/daughter dance. She immediately made us feel comfortable and welcome, showing us how our wedding dreams could come to life. I cannot recommend her enough!

Jennifer West DuVall

We got so many compliments on our wedding waltz last week! The Commander of the American Legion happened to be at our wedding, and he taught for Arthur Murray about 4 decades ago. He wouldn’t stop saying how great we looked and that we must have had a good teacher. Indeed we did! Thank you so much for your help in getting us ready.

John & Diane Boullusa

Thank you, once again, for last night’s showcase. It really epitomized what your studio is about. From the “twinkle stars” to the amazing “Dancing Don,” encompassing about 85 years discrepancy between them, to your students’ performances, to your amazing professional dances with Harby –especially a spectacular tango–it was a memorable evening for all. Your brother’s contribution really brought it all together, with clever segues between performances. Your staff, also, is to be commended for their contributions as well. Very well done.

Antwan Witter

Had a blast today learning new Bachata/Salsa moves…setting myself up for success so when I go to these Hispanic clubs and when I visit my Hispanic friends and families I’m not that guy who just sits there and watches. I’m going to be the first person on the floor and last to leave. Just wanted to give a huge thank you and shout out to the teachers of Revolution Ballroom!!! Y’all the best..

Alyssa Petro

Your studio is filled with such positive energy and people…I LOVE dancing there! Looking forward to next month!

Penny Hadgeoff

Despite being pretty klutzy and dance impaired, both my husband and I learned a lot and had a great time. The staff and other students are warm and welcoming and put us at our ease right away

First class studio. Marcia Mitchell is a beautiful dancer and a great teacher. It’s always a pleasure to be at her immaculate studio and in her company.

Aubrey Leaver

I love this place. It instantly felt like a home away from home.

Carolyn Jirousek

Revolution Ballroom is one of the most fun things that has ever happened to me! It is true about the benefits of dancing for body, mind, and spirit. Thanks for all you do!

Jaysen & Colleen O’Dell

Her bubbly personality rubbed off. We laughed at our mistakes instead of crying over them. She encouraged us to accept the challenges and persevere until we found the elegance hidden in the discomfort of hard work. She fosters an atmosphere of friendship among total strangers.

Earl White

Marcia, thank you again for coercing me to enter the dance competition. I enjoyed the entire experience and I am now convinced that I have the best instructor.

Richard Kincicki

I just want to thank you for taking the time to give a GREAT LESSON.  Several of the members remarked about how much fun the lesson was, your attention to detail, and your positive attitude rubbed off. Thanks again, your love of dance and people shows through..

Larry Ruf

As always, I enjoy each lesson. I get to work with someone who brings the same dedication to her craft as I do to mine. Plus I work with someone who shows tremendous joy of life, compassion, & sensitivity who I care for like a daughter. How fortunate I am.đź’–
