What inspired you to start dancing?
We were looking for a date night kind of activity to share together without the kiddo. Came across Revolution Ballroom and we thought it might be fun, but decided not to initially due to neither of us knowing anything about dancing. We of course finally decided to give it a try and have enjoyed it since.Â
Favorite dance or dances?
Waltz and Foxtrot are my favorite. I tend to prefer the smoother, flowing dancing. Likely due to the slower pace which allows me more time to figure out what to do next.

What inspired you to start dancing?
We thought dance might make for a great date night.
Favorite dance or dances?
My favorite dance is the Viennese Waltz, when my legs are working well, it is just so beautiful and fun. And when they aren’t, I like that in Argentine Tango, my leader can modify the moves to hide my missteps easier. But I do like that no matter how well my legs are working, or not, no one makes me feel bad at Revolution Ballroom.

Tell us about you – your work, your family, your hobbies and interests?
My name is Matthew Curiel from Southern California and I’m in the Navy currently stationed in South Carolina. I love traveling, outdoor activities, and learning new exciting things like dance!
What inspired you to start dancing?
My inspiration story to start dancing came from a story of embarrassment, where I attended a Quinceanera with a friend of mine as her date, and at this party, not just one… BUT TWO GIRLS approached me to dance with them. I was so embarrassed because I had no idea what I was doing, I was stepping on their feet, my timing was off, I bumped heads with them, it was just plain horrible and embarrassing! I faked it until I made it when the song was over, and I promised myself I could never let another opportunity like this ever happen in my life!

Thank you, once again, for last night’s showcase. It really epitomized what your studio is about. From the “twinkle stars” to the amazing “Dancing Don,” encompassing about 85 years discrepancy between them, to your students’ performances, to your amazing professional dances with Harby –especially a spectacular tango–it was a memorable evening for all. Your brother’s contribution really brought it all together, with clever segues between performances. Your staff, also, is to be commended for their contributions as well. Very well done.
