Why they started dancing…
At a recent Intro to Social Dance class, I invited students to share what inspired them to start dancing.
One woman said it sounded like fun 💫
Another said she came with a friend and told herself, she’d give it 20 minutes and if she didn’t like it, she’d leave 😅 That was a year ago, she’s still happily dancing.
One couple is getting married 💞
Another couple said they always enjoyed dancing, but were never formally taught and wanted to learn to dance “the right way” 📝
One gentleman said he was “dragged” in by a friend, but soon developed a love for ballroom dancing, and he’s still strutting seven later 🕺🏻
Another said he made a promise that he’d learn to dance one day and wanted to honor his word 🤗
I was fascinated that there was such a variety of what brought people into the studio and yet - learning to ballroom dance was fulfilling to them all.
As always the class was full of smiles and laughter, some challenges too - as with learning any new skill.
And as the class ended, students lingered to chat happily with new friends. To me that is the essence of dance: connecting with a community and having fun learning together.
Whatever your reason, I invite you to join our happy dance community. Sign up here to Get Started and we’ll look forward to seeing you on the dance floor soon 🤗

In my 27 years of ballroom dancing I’ve heard many reasons why people want to learn to dance, but I’ve never heard anyone say “I’m so glad I waited this long. No way would I have wanted to learn this sooner! Thank goodness I spent all those years sitting on the sidelines thinking I can’t dance” ☺️
