Add style and flair to your rhythm dancing with this essential technique. You’ll feel more connected to the music and your dancing will look and feel more natural, whether you’re performing or social dancing! 💫

Feel the Rhythm in Every Step! Rhythm dances features the signature flair of Cuban motion. Often called Latin hip action, this technique actually involves the entire body. Here’s how to add Cuban motion to your dancing:

  1. Initiate the step by bending the knee forward and projecting the rib cage without moving the foot.
  2. Keeping the foot in contact with the floor, slide the foot to its next position keeping the standing knee soft and the opposite hip rotated back.
  3. Begin straightening the standing leg without moving the hips.
  4. Settle the hip so the hip rotates back over the standing foot.
