Cha Cha Timing
Nail Your Cha Cha Timing! 💃🕺
Cha Cha's rhythm brings energy and excitement to the dance floor. Mastering this syncopated timing will sharpen your steps sharper so you can shine on the floor!
🤔 What's a Syncopation? We syncopate in dance by taking two (or more steps) over a single beat of music.
🎵 Rhythm of Cha Cha: Cha Cha timing is counted as “2, 3, 4 & 1”. The 2 and 3 are whole beats. The "4" and the "&" are half beats, and the "1" is a whole beat.
2 | 3 | 4 | & | 1
Rock | Step | Cha | Cha | Cha
whole beat | whole beat | 1/2 beat | 1/2 beat | whole beat
🌪 Slow Down to Look Fast: It's a common mistake to rush ALL the steps in Cha Cha since the music feels so fast. In reality, there are only two steps in Cha Cha that are faster than Rumba. The “2” and “3” (the rock step) are slower steps, while the "4&" (the first two “Cha Chas”) are quicker steps. The last "Cha" is a slower step. Be careful not to rush your rock steps or your last "Cha".
Master the timing, and your Cha Cha will shine on any dance floor! 🌟
