When The Beat Drops Your Spirit Lifts ๐
Music lifts our spirits, and combined with dance it's powerful stuff.
Music + Movement = ๐
How can we connect more with the music while dancing?
Sometimes we're so focused on "are we on time" that we're not letting the rhythm move us - physically or emotionally.
Try taking one dance at a class or party, and immerse yourself in the song.
- Feel the beat in your body.
- Let the sentiments of the song touch your heart.
- Express the music with your movements.
How does dancing feel different when you're focused on the music?
When You Don't Like The Song ๐
The songs in a playlist are like the chapters of our lives - you may not like it, but you might as well enjoy it until the next one begins.
When I first started teaching, our studio owner was an older gentlemen who would always play this cheesy waltz.
As young teachers, we couldn't fight it, so we embraced it.
It became our anthem of sorts, and we'd get super giddy whenever it came on.
BTW, if I play an annoying song over and over and you guys cringe every time, will you please hit reply and let me know.
I'm sure it's only a matter of time - "there goes Marcia with her song again" ๐
Make a Mix ๐ง
Another way to enjoy dance music is to make your own playlist of favorite songs.
Practice is never a chore when you're dancing to music you love.
