The secret perks of leading on the floor 🕺✨
Learning to lead with confidence opens a world of opportunities.
Beyond the social ease and adoring fans - what are the hidden benefits of being a good leader in ballroom?
The Thrill of Driving an Indy Car 🏎️
Weaving through a crowded dance floor feels like flying down a motor speedway - it's exhilarating.
As a leader you're in charge, and with the slightest inclination, you can rev the engine and fly across the room.
Partnering with a great follower is electric, like driving a powerful race car, and that's the ultimate fun of being a leader in ballroom.
No Surprises 😎
As a leader on the dance floor, you choose the next move.
Which means you'll never be caught off guard with something you didn't expect and you only dance moves you feel confident leading.
I remember when I began dancing as a student, I was in constant state of vigilance and stress trying to predict what was coming next so I wouldn't mess it up 🫣
While leaders have plenty of challenges on the dance floor, you're always in charge of what comes next.
And that feels powerful.
It Only Gets Easier 📈
It gets easier for you as the moves get more advanced.
Say what?! How can this be?
This may sound obvious, but from day one you've had to know where you're going and how to get there.
Believe it or not - many beginner followers don't know this.
They rely on you because they actually don't know their steps.
So when we begin doing more open work and followers can't cling to you for guidance, many will struggle to do basic footwork.
So as the moves get more complex, you'll actually learn more quickly than the followers.
You've already done the hard work and built a strong foundation right from the start.
So while it IS challenging to be a leader - know that brighter days are ahead! ☀️
We love our leaders! Thanks for being brave and giving dance a try.
With time, it does get easier, and you'll gain more confidence and experience more joy at dance.
