The secret perks of following on the floor 💃✨
Learning to be a graceful follower opens a world of possibilities.
Besides being treasured as the beautiful swan you are - what are the hidden benefits of being a great follower in ballroom?
Enjoy Being Taken Care Of 👸
Many of us are fiercely independent 🙋♀️
We're used to taking care of ourselves, thank you very much.
Which is why it's such a breath of fresh air to let someone else take the reins, if only for a 3 minute song 😌
Guess what, on the dance floor:
- Worrying about what to lead next - not my job.
- Navigating around the dance floor - not my job.
- Communicating the timing for figure - not my job.
- Linking one figure to the next - not my job.
As a follower, my only responsibility is to respond to each invitation from my partner.
And that leaves so much space to relax, enjoy, be present, and to connect 💖
Be the Show Pony 🦄
In the ballroom world, we say the leader is the frame; the follower is the picture 🖼️
The leader's job is to showcase YOU - to make you look good.
So you get the fun turns and twirls.
Like the perfect LBD, a great leader selects steps that display your best qualities while concealing any flaws so you always look and feel your best.
Every Dance is New & Exciting 🤩
As a Follower, you never know what your partner will lead next.
So dance is always fresh and exciting.
This isn't true for Leader's since every step they lead is one they already know.
But as a follower, when you go out social dancing you'll be endlessly surprised and delighted by the new combinations you encounter.
So while Following is definitely a challenging role, enjoy being squired around the ballroom by a partner whose sole focus is to make you look fabulous, while delighting you with intriguing new steps along the way 🥰
