Correct footwork is essential for enhancing your ballroom dance skills. Whether you’re dancing the Rumba, Mambo, or Cha-Cha, executing precise footwork in the rhythm dances will elevate your performance. Here are some tips:
- Dance with Toes Turned Out: Dance Rhythm with a slight turn out of the feet. Thus, when the feet are closed, the heels will be touching and the toes will be slightly apart. Maintain this turn-out on every step.
- Use Ball Flat Footwork: As a general rule, step with the inside edge of the ball of the foot first, then lower to a flat foot. This technique enables you to the express the full character of rhythm dances.
- Use Foot Pressure: Keep the ball of the foot in contact with the floor when moving the foot to to its next position. This helps keep you grounded and adds power to your dancing.
